Our Heritage
Our Story
Founded in 1998 by Dato’ Seri Michael Tan Seng Huat, Crystal Safety Glass (M) Sdn Bhd began as a trading business focused on glassware. During the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997, Dato’ Seri Michael faced financial setbacks when a buyer defaulted, leaving him with two containers of raw glass. Determined to find a solution, he discovered a market for these materials in construction, sparking a shift to trading glass. With borrowed funds and a small team, he established operations in a 3,000 sq. ft. shop in Puchong.
Despite the challenges and the limited internet access of the time, Dato’ Seri Michael travelled extensively to Indonesia and China to secure reliable suppliers. His dedication to meeting customer needs, including glass shops and contractors across Malaysia, drove the company’s early success. By 2006, the company’s workforce had grown to 100, prompting a move to a larger 60,000 sq. ft. facility in Klang.
Since 2013, Dato’ Seri Michael has entrusted the company’s leadership to his children, allowing him to travel globally while they continue to expand the business. Today, the group operates from a state-of-the-art 250,000 sq. ft. glass processing facility in Shah Alam, employing approximately 300 staff. This significant growth underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and quality in the Malaysian glass industry.
